PHILOSOPHY

"I am always willing to help. A being is only valuable as he can serve others". ...Hubbard

GSS is about helping people understand and preserve their home and their investment in it as well as how to protect themselves, their loved ones and guests from hazards that may exist therein. I built this information-service business out of thin air, a passionate vision, and years of paying-my-dues effort. I'm not sure I've always felt this way, but, looking back, I've enjoyed every minute of it.

"This is the kind of place I like. It is one of those lonely places you have to go through Hell to reach. Many a man's home is just that I expect"....Louis L'Amour, "Treasure Mountain".

Now I have over twenty years of experiential inspection knowledge and I'd like to share it to help others, on the house, so to speak. If you have a question about home maintenance or repairs or home inspections, that you think I might answer without visiting your house, send me an E-mail. I will do my best to provide an answer or otherwise guide you to a solution.

People want complete and reliable information when buying a home. Folks who study these things, list the home buying process as among the most stressful and life-changing events we can experience. I help you to reduce the stress, that fear of unpleasant surprises, by equipping you with valuable knowledge so you are in a position of power to make informed decisions. A fringe benefit is the peace of mind you'll enjoy by quieting the inner dialogue that so often torments a buyer during the escrow process. More than half of my business now comes from repeat clients or referrals from clients. Click on "customer comments" at left to read What they're sayin'.

I have inspected more than 7000 homes since 1985. Most of my experience is in the grand City of San Francisco where I am still doing inspections 3 - 4 days a week. I serve many other north coast areas as well, including the following counties: San Mateo, San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Lake, Mendocino and Solano. I am happy to inspect properties in other counties by special appointment. I am also available as a speaker (with a slide show) at Service Club Luncheons, Homeowners Associations or other appropriate forums.

I provide high-touch customer service and focused attention to detail. Mine is not a quick and flashy, high-tech, franchised inspection business. If you are one that appreciates the personalized service and flexibility available only from a small, one-man business service, then GSS should be your choice for Home Inspection or other construction consulting matters. My intention is to give you substance, i.e., gather the relevant information accurately and thoroughly, document it concisely and completely and then talk with you about it in a way that ensures you fully understand the implications; most of which, by the way, are typically not unwieldy. When you call Goodell Structural Services, you get the boss, the owner and the chief inspector on-site, inspecting your investment and providing you with the best attention at all times.
